At RTB, we try and cater to all types of palates. We have noticed that most Indians prefer a wheat beer over a stout, but the trends are constantly shifting. Nevertheless, our main emphasis is on freshness, especially pale, fruity, carbonated wheat beer, we brew these beers with various different hops, ensuring that our guests get best wheat beers in their hands within an extraordinarily short window.
Our beer portfolio currently showcases Belgian Wit infused with orange peels. Our American Lager is crisp and refreshing with floral hop aroma. Our German Wheat beer brewed with clove and banana and our stout English Ale replicates an authentic English Stout blended with vanilla pods for a rich aftertaste. We have recently introduced to Kolkata our innovative Apple Cider and seasonal Mango Ale.
Very lightly sparkling, sweet ciders with apple aroma and flavor with some esters. A combination of sweet and tart awakes taste buds and energizes the body. Acidity is balanced, not so harsh on palate, giving a refreshing character.
As with aroma, the distinctive flavour character associated with Mango and spices are noticeable, and may range in intensity from subtle to aggressive. The balance of fruit and spices with the underlying beer is vital, and the fruit character is real and not artificial and/or inappropriately overpowering as to suggest a spiced fruit juice drink.
Quite sweet with a smooth dark grainy flavour and restrained business. Roasted gain and malt character can be moderated to high with a chocolate flavour.
Low to moderate strong banana and clove flavour. The balance and intensity of the phenol and ester components can vary.
Relatively neutral palette with a crisp and dry finish and moderately-low to low grainy or corn like flavour that might be perceived as sweetness. Hops with floral spicy and herbal flavour.
Pleasant malty-sweet grain flavour with zesty, orange citrusy fruitness. Refreshingly crisp with a dry, often tart finish.
The Powefull aroma of rose settles in to the sturdiness of the wheat beer, with their usual pinch of Belgian yeast for a familiar taste. A touch of tannins and splash of little red corvette inspired by clasical Rose Wine
Masters in Brewing and Distilling for Heriot Watt University, Sagar Powale is our Brew Master, who has been brewing at more brewpubs than one can count. His philosophy is simple, concentrate on ‘quality’ and ‘hygiene’. He uses fine quality raw materials and proper brewing techniques, which make things easy for the overall brewing process. He prefers ‘Reinheitsgebot’, which is the German Purity Law that allows the use of Malts, Water, Yeast and Hops in making beer.
Sagar is comfortable in brewing different styles of beer, but his expertise is in brewing various wheat beers, especially by adding some indigenous ingredients into it. For example, he has used Alphonso mangoes from Ratnagiri to make ‘Mango Ale’ and by fresh apples from Himachal Pradesh to make ‘Apple Cider’. He has the expertise and experience in brewing almost all styles of beer including Hefeweizen, Indian Pale Ale, Stout, Porter, Pilsner, Seasonal brews like Christmas Ales and Ciders.
