 BELGIUM

Belgians love their Food and Drinks. Their waffles, fries, chocolates and Beers are relished globally. When we talk about beer, Belgians believe ‘variety is the spice of Belgium Beer’. They have enormous variety in beer ranging from Pale Lagers to Bock and Lambic beers. Every nook and corner of Belgium has a brewery and over 60% of their beer is exported.

Belgium has two very famous Beer museums, situated in Brussels.

Museum of Belgian Brewers

Basically the museum is built into the basement of the Brewers’ home. The guild house of trade association of brewers in Belgium. You can discover implements for brewing, fermentation tubs and kettles found in 18th century. After the tour is over you can sit at the café museum and could truly appreciate the flavour of Belgian Beer. If you love beer you will get engrossed and ponder upon the traditional and cultural perspective that relates Belgium to its Beer.

Schaerbeek Museum

This is a small museum situated in a former school of Brussels. This is a museum that is dedicated to Belgian Beers and is around a beautiful garden. The museum consists a collection of 2000 beer bottles along with their respective beer glasses. It also exhibits beer making machines, tools, advertisements and the archives of breweries past and present. 

JAPAN

Japan known as the ‘Land of the rising Sun’. The images that floats as we talk about Japan are Cherry Blossoms, Anime, Sushi and Mount Fuji. Though it is not quite surprising, that two out of three world’s best Beer Museums are located in Japan. Beer is the most popular alcoholic drink in Japan. The first beer brewed in Japan is dated back in the 19th century.  

Sapporo Beer Museum

The Sapporo Beer Museum in Sapporo was actually built in 1890 as a Sugar Factory. The first beer production in Japan actually began on the site of the present Sapporo Beer Factory in 1877 based on German beer-making techniques. Presently it is a three storied brick building converted to a museum dedicated to the history of beer brewing with exhibits explaining the process of making beer including a large copper kettle, the ingredients needed for beer-making, as well as the history of Sapporo beer in Japan.

World Beer Museum

Unlike the Sapporo Beer Museum, World Beer Museum is a cosmopolitan version of a Beer museum. This is located in Tokyo, Japan. The Museum has a casual environment and beers brewed all over the world. They have more than 150 variety of beers and various global cuisines. The place has an open air terrace, where you could enjoy your beer and admire the scenic beauty of the city.

GERMANY

Beer and Oktoberfest Museum

The Beer and Oktoberfest Museum is situated in Munich, Germany. This museum holds the record of history of the yearly Oktoberfest and exhibits the Bavarian beer tradition and its related brewing industry. Located in one of Munich’s oldest houses of 1327, the museum was opened in 7th September, 2005. The best part of the museum is a complete collection of original beer mugs used during the early years of the Oktoberfest event.
